Job Title: Laboratory Scientist II

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM EST
SUMMARY
The Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for performing testing and analysis in an accurate, efficient and timely manner, maintaining, training and troubleshooting Analyst Software.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs routine to complex chemical analysis of biological specimens using chemical and instrumental methodologies to detect and quantify alcohol and drugs in biological matrices.
- Perform sample preparation procedures, including solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid extraction, and dilutions. Proficient in analysis and capable of training others.
- Proficient in analytical software such as Chemstation, Analyst and MultiQuant.
- Analytical Data Review includes but is not limited to performing calculations that produce an accurate test result, documentation and evaluation of quality control data, chain of custody documentation, review confirmatory test results and release initial test results.
- Advanced LIMS knowledge
- Set up testing instrumentation for specific tests and analysis, providing proper preventative maintenance according to prescribed schedules.
- Knowledgeable of instrumentation for purposes of training and advanced troubleshooting.
- Procure and maintain test equipment and basic method/extraction troubleshooting to perform required product analysis and testing.
- Capable of performing required instrument maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Prepares work lists for testing using LIMS.
- Participate in quality control activities throughout the laboratory to assure that accurate results are reported and collecting all data necessary for routine quality control functions and tests including analytical validation.
- Comply with safety rules and regulations to include determining proper handling procedures of samples, cleanliness, and neatness at the workstation and within the testing facility and observance of appropriate personal protective equipment procedures.
- Order supplies according to inventory control program.
- Responsible for workflow and TAT of routine analysis, including patient samples and samples for quality assessment (e.g. Proficiency Testing).
- Maintains workstation supplies and prepares reagents as needed.
- Testifies as an expert witness regarding analytical procedures.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisor/management.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences required
2 years laboratory experience required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
