Responsibilities
SUMMARY
Supervises and coordinates the activities of nursing personnel and engages in a variety of procedures in various units of the department through the interpretation of department policy and procedures for unit directors/managers and staff personnel; participates in the investigation and preparation of reports relative to the improvement of nursing care, safety training and personnel performance; maintain clinical nursing competency and assists staff with clinical intervention. The shift, weekend, and holiday supervisors are also the leading management person in the institution itself. As the management representative, this person assumes responsibility for the institution and staff members in its entirety.

SCHEDULE: 8 Hour, Evenings
ATTRIBUTES
Required: Associate's degree and current NYS license
Required: Three years experience in an acute care facility prior to becoming a supervisor
Preferred: BSN
Preferred: Experience as a Nursing Supervisor, Director or Nurse Manager, or Charge Nurse
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises and coordinates the activities of nursing personnel and engages in a variety of procedures in various units of the department through the interpretation of department policy and procedures for unit directors/managers and staff personnel.
Staffs according to “Hours Per Patient Day Calculation” guidelines per MSU.
Participates in the investigation and preparation of reports relative to the improvement of nursing care, safety training and personnel performance.
Maintain clinical nursing competency and assists staff with clinical intervention.
Coordinates patient admissions to proper units, and arranges transports to appropriate facilities when requested by physician. Ascertains that proper transport methods are used
