SUMMARY

To provide essential clerical and secretarial support functions for the laboratory’s technical and managerial personnel.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: United Memorial Medical Center

DEPARTMENT: Laboratory

SCHEDULE: Monday– Friday | 3pm–11pm

ATTRIBUTES

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Graduate of a medical secretary/medical office technology program, and/or A.A.S. preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clerical. Accurately registers and orders laboratory testing in the laboratory information system and hospital information system. Assures all laboratory reports are available, provided to the appropriate providers and medical records, as necessary.
  • Customer Service. Professionally answers the telephone, and effectively acts as department liaison to patients, visitors and physicians. Promptly supplies additional information requested by the business office that is necessary for the timely and accurate preparation of a patient bill.
  • Safety and Quality. Performs quality reviews as required by laboratory administration. Adheres to all laboratory and organizational infection prevention and safety policies. Maintains a safe, clean and well organized work area at all times.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

PAY RANGE: $17.50 - $20.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
