This position will be a working Sous Chef with successful management background. Under the direction of the Executive Chef, this position will be able to oversee and execute all kitchen stations at Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, DeMay Living Center, Snack Bar, Employee Cafeteria, on and off-site catering in all areas in a superior manner from the model of multiple venue- high volume restaurants, country clubs and/or hotels.

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Newark Wayne Hospital

DEPARTMENT: Food Service

SCHEDULE: Days/Evenings + Every-other weekend


  • Associate Degree in Culinary Arts or comparable work experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in successful high volume restaurants, hotel or country club management.


  • Supervision of staff; hiring, firing, working with Business Partner with direction from Managers, train and develop employees and perform evaluations.
  • Develop culinary methodology for the future of NWCH Food Service Co-ordinates. Initiates and maintains enhanced foodservice methods from traditional tray-line to restaurant model of methodology and execution at the facility level.
  • Fosters the continued growth and success of each facility’s culinary, fiscal and organizational foodservice operations.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

PAY RANGE: $17.25 - $19.40

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
