Pediatric / Neo- Natal Nurse Practitioner - Unity Nursery (Per Diem)

SUMMARY

The Pediatric / Neonatal Nurse Practitioner ensures comprehensive, efficient health care through planning, directing and providing care within a multidisciplinary health team. The individual directs the care of patients utilizing the Nursing Process of assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. The NP will maintain accountability to hospital, state, and federal regulations, and professional standards regarding activities, documentation and collaboration requirements.

ATTRIBUTES

  • Graduation from Nurse Practitioner program, Master's degree in nursing, with certification as a Nurse Practitioner required
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse & Nurse Practitioner in NYS
  • Previous Neonatal or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner experience desirable or a combination of related experiences in progressively advancing nursing practice and leadership roles
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification acquired prior to start date or obtained during orientation
  • Compassionate, warm and patient focused
  • Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional documentation skills and professional behavior
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Care: Establishes a medical diagnosis; orders and evaluates diagnostic studies: monitors therapeutic procedures and manages follow-up plans. Follows established neo-natal nursing standards, procedures and practices, and gives patient care directions to nursing and other staff. Demonstrates in-depth advanced knowledge of current professional nursing and neo-natal theory, practice, and techniques in area of specialty. Interprets and evaluates written standards relevant to services within area of practices. Initiates CPR and BLS of patients when necessary according to AHA guidelines.
  • Patient Satisfaction: Implements plan of care in safe, effective and professional manner. Identifies and prioritizes teaching and learning needs of patients. Facilitates the efficiency of neonatal nursing care delivery.
  • Teamwork: Performs therapeutic and corrective measures within neonatal expertise in collaboration with other health team members. Effectively communicates with administration, subordinates, peers, and other professionals. Facilitates the development of new ideas that affect the department, Unity Family Birth Place, and self.

EDUCATION:

  • MS: Nursing (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • NP - Nurse Practitioner Certification - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
  • RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

PAY RANGE: $75.00 - $75.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
