SUMMARY
Provides evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with problems in cognition, communication, and/or deglutition using accepted techniques and equipment within the guidelines of the organization's policies and procedures and professional standards of practice. Assesses and restores patient's function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by designing, planning and implementing medically prescribed speech-language pathology interventions. Clifton Springs Nursing Home is a hospital-based skilled nursing facility (SNF) located in the quaint village of Clifton Springs, NY. The 108-bed facility provides specialized services that include skilled nursing and restorative care services for chronically disabled and medically complex residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Meets the patient's goals and needs and provides quality, evidence based care by assessing, developing and implementing an individualized treatment plan.
Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices and recommendations by instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing functional and daily-living activities and in using assistive and supportive devices.
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Develops speech-language therapy staff by providing information; developing and conducting in-service training programs.
Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICTIONS:
Masters degree in Speech/Language Pathology (may be MA, MS, Med)
New York State licensure
OR
For recent graduates:
Completion of at least 9 months supervised Clinical Fellowship year OR Eligible to participate in supervised Clinical Fellowship year by a NYS licensed Speech Language Pathologist with a NYS Limited permit and followed by the NYS licensure examination and achievement of NYS license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICTIONS
1 year experience in medical setting preferred.
EDUCATION:
- MS: Speech Pathology (Required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- CCC-SLP - Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology - American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASLHA)
- SLP - Speech-Language Pathologist - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
PAY RANGE: $68,500.00 - $108,000.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
