SUMMARY
As a Registered Nurse – Educator, your in-depth knowledge and outstanding communication skills are key in fostering quality care, enhanced wellness and ongoing growth and development throughout Rochester Regional.
The Inpatient Surgical Unit (2800) cares for pre and post-surgical patients including general, colorectal, plastics and breast, bariatrics, urology, ENT and neurosurgery. This fast-paced unit is a great fit for experienced and new RNs who enjoy multidisciplinary teamwork and rewarding patient interactions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Evaluation. Identify and validate the learning needs of customers by utilizing needs assessments, CQI results, performance improvement results, customer surveys and course evaluation results; document the effectiveness of educational offerings by developing, monitoring and assessing competencies; analyze cost to maximize the efficient utilization of resources
Development. Create educational programs and curriculum that promote quality healthcare, employee/patient growth and personal wellness; provide leadership in areas of expertise as a resource to the customer; develop communications and audio-visual materials that are clear and concise
Implementation. Facilitate programs to meet the identified learning needs of our customers; provide in-depth orientation, in-service and continuing education for staff or patients

Develops educational programs and curriculum that promote quality health care, employee or patient growth, and personal wellness. Programs will be based on current literature findings. Materials will be developed using current research in the field.
Implements and/or facilitates programs to meet the identified learning needs of our customers. Provides in-depth orientation, in-service and continuing education for staff or patients.
Evaluates and documents the effectiveness of educational offerings by developing, monitoring and assessing competencies. Implements changes based on need. Analyzes cost to maximize the efficient utilization of resources.
Provides leadership in areas of expertise as a resource to the customer. May assess clinical competence of staff with new procedures and/or equipment.
Utilizes effective communication strategies by developing communications and audio visual materials that are clear and concise.
Utilizes appropriate marketing for programs both internally and externally.
Maintains professional affiliations as appropriate to keep abreast of new developments and participates in activities that enhance personal and professional growth.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required in nursing, health education, or instructional development or an equivalent combination of education and healthcare related work experience will be considered
Active BLS Certification
Must be currently registered and licensed by NYS as a Registered Professional Nurse
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years prior training/teaching experience in related educational field
At least 6 months RN experience preferred
EDUCATION:
- BS: Nursing (Required)
- BS: Health Education
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
PAY RANGE: $79,560.00 - $109,200.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
