Job Title: Recreation Therapist
Department: Therapies
Location: Wegmans Family Cottages - Park Ridge Living Center
Hours Per Week: 37.5
Schedule: Monday-Friday Days, with one Sunday requirement per month
SUMMARY:
Development, implementation and documentation of therapeutic recreational services to the residents, and transitional care patients in accordance with state regulations and program standards.
Wegmans Family Cottages provides a fun, intimate, homelike environment. There are many resources at your disposal to run enriching activities for the elders including a bus for outings.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Communicates with residents/patient, staff, volunteers and family members.
Participates in continuing education and quality improvement activities. Committed to professional development.
Executes recreational programs of resident/patient activity.
Participate in staff meetings and meetings relevant to resident/patient care.
Responds to resident/patient and family requests.
Living Center Only: Purchases, maintains and gathers equipment and supplies. Transports residents.
Living Center Only: Trains and supervises staff, volunteers and students as appropriate.
Living Center Only: Develops, assesses, evaluates, plans, revises and documents resident participation and progress. Formulates a monthly calendar. Maintains attendance records of the type of activities residents are participating in. Completes documentation of the MDS, care plan and progress notes in accordance with N.Y. State regulations.
Attends to individual needs and provides individual activities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with the geriatric population
Valid NYS Drivers License
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associates degree in Recreation Therapy preferred.
One to two years experience in recreation therapy preferred.
CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) preferred
EDUCATION:
- AS: Therapeutic Recreation (Required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- NYS DL - valid New York State Driver's License - New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYSDMV)
PAY RANGE: $19.00 - $26.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
