As a Registered Nurse Level IV, you will leverage your clinical expertise and leadership skills to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for patients. Additionally, you will serve as a mentor to fellow team members, providing guidance and support to ensure the highest standards of care on the unit.

Acute Medical and Telemetry Care Unit (6800) Unit at Rochester General Hospital is a 39-bed, high-acuity medical unit specializing in complex medical and telemetry care. We provide exceptional, patient-centered care to a diverse patient population with multiple acute and chronic conditions, making our unit a dynamic and rewarding environment for nurses and healthcare professionals seeking to advance their clinical skills.
This unit offers a unique, fast-paced setting that enables nurses to develop and strengthen expertise in caring for medically complex patients. Our unit provides care to patients with a variety of complex conditions, including:
- Telemetry and acute medical conditions, requiring close monitoring and intervention.
- Complex patients who are medically ready for discharge with no clear discharge plan.
- Palliative and hospice care patients, where our team provides compassionate end-of-life care and support that focuses on family support before transitioning to home or a hospice center
- Complex wound care patients, including those with wound vacs, pressure ulcers, and post-surgical wounds, allowing our team to develop advanced wound management expertise.
- Ortho trauma, including hip and ankle fractures, and other orthopedic procedures.

This role is part of the Registered Nurse Level IV / Clinical Nurse IV must complete the following:
Complete the Clinical Ladder binder within 12 months of employment
Minimum of 5 activities in each Pillar (Leadership, Quality, and Organizational Contribution)
15 Continuing education units (CEU's)
20 Flex items
STATUS: Full Time
LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital
DEPARTMENT: Acute Medical and Telemetry Care Unit (6800)
SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other weekend / holiday
DESIRED ATTRIBUTES:
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.
Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family
- Planning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family
- Evaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities
- Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters
EDUCATION:
- BS: Nursing (Required)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)
- BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)
PAY RANGE: $37.18 - $49.92
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
