Job Title: Physical Therapist - Float
Department: Physical Therapy, Rehab, and Acute Care
Location: Physical Therapy Outpatient Center, 269 Andrews, Massena, NY, and Hospital-Based
Hours Per Week: 40
Schedule: Monday - Friday OR Tuesday - Saturday; M-F shift is selected, weekend Saturday rotation every 6 weeks
SUMMARY: The physical therapist completes patient assessments, establishes patient care plans, administers patient treatment, and directs delivery of treatment utilizing professional physical therapy assistants in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, and established hospital policies, procedures, and protocols. Adhere to the professional standards of CPH, the American Physical Therapy Association, and the NYS Office of Professions. Actively supports and participates in patient coverage efforts across all departments as necessary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes physical therapy evaluations to establish treatment plans and home programs to restore function, relieve pain & prevent disability. Adheres to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
Administers patient treatment plan involving application of physical therapy techniques and modalities as indicated. Monitors response and progress to update and modify treatment plan as necessary to meet patient goals. Instructs patients and family members/caregivers in physical therapy procedures and self-care techniques. Directs the care that is provided by the physical therapy assistant by providing oversight. Performs discharge planning and documentation to provide discharge instructions and maintain post-discharge continuity of care.
Consults with physicians and other health care professionals regarding treatments, progress, patient needs, and outcomes.
Participates in self and others' education, training, and development, as applicable.Performs any other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy
Active and clear NYS PT license or temporary permit following NYS Practice Act guidelines
BLS (current or scheduled)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of 1 year of post-licensure practice as a Physical Therapist
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
PAY RANGE: $36.50 - $48.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
