SUMMARY
Provide on-site clinical coverage during the evening, night, and weekend hours for the Department of Surgery and its attending physicians at Unity Hospital. Coverage includes direct patient care, in-house consults, performance of bedside procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Direction. Responsible during duty hours for the patients on his/her service. He/ She will participate as directed by the attending surgeon on the individual’s service.
Monitoring. Notifies attending surgeon of any sudden, serious change in a patient’s condition.
Management. Sets up peripheral infusions by means of vena puncture, inserts NG tubes, catheterizes for bladder drainage, changes dressings, irrigates wounds, sutures minor lacerations under surgeon supervision, removal of sutures and removes drains as ordered, assists in cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, applies and removes casts under supervision, starts blood transfusions, does arterial punctures for blood gas estimates and venipuncture for laboratory data.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

- PA-C - Certified Physician Assistant - National Committee on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
- RPA - Registered Physician Assistant - NYS Office of Professions
PAY RANGE: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
