SUMMARY:
The Float – Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible to float to ambulatory practices within primary care where a need has been identified. The Float – Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible to assist with providing clinical and clerical support to medical providers, in collaboration with nursing and medical support staff, in a medical office setting.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support patient care through pre-visit planning, reviewing reports for gaps, scheduling follow-ups, and completing health maintenance/registry work.
Obtain and document vital signs, patient history, screenings, medication lists, and perform point-of-care testing, phlebotomy, and EKGs with accurate documentation.
Assist providers with procedures, specimen collection, patient education, order entry, medication refills, and prior authorization requests.
Maintain exam rooms and clinical equipment by restocking supplies, checking calibration, preparing instruments for sterilization, and ensuring a clean, safe environment.
Collaborate with providers and nursing staff while maintaining adult and pediatric primary care competencies to ensure high-quality patient care.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Valid New York State (NYS) driver’s license
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Associates degree
Experience in pre-hospital care activities or acute/critical care experience
Medical Assistant Certification
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
PAY RANGE: $17.85 - $20.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
