Qualifications
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Emergency Medicine (Board Eligibility required within 5 years of residency completion)
Commitment to compassionate, evidence-based patient care
Strong clinical decision-making and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Schedule
Full-time schedule consists of twelve 12-hour shifts per month (144 hours monthly)
Potsdam ER:
Shift Times:
7a–7p or 7p–7a
8a – 6p (double physician coverage)
36 hours of physician coverage and 22 hours of APP coverage daily
APP Coverage Includes:
10a–10p
6p-4a
Physicians average approximately 1.32 patients per hour
Accepts transfers from Massena and Gouverneur Hospitals
Trauma III Trauma Center
Primary Stroke Center
Annual Volume: 27,000 visits
Admission Rate: 15%
Massena ER:
7a-7p or 7p-7a
24 hours of physician coverage and 12 hours of APP coverage
APP shift:
9a-9p
Physicians average 1.34 patients per hour
Significantly less busy nights
Critical access hospital
Annual Volume: 15,000 visits
Admission Rate: 9%
Gouverneur ER:
7a-7p or 7p-7a
Physicians average 1.18 patients per hour
Generally lower acuity with significantly less busy nights
Critical access hospital
Annual Volume: 11,000 visits
Admission Rate: 3%

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full-time applicant. In addition to the base pay range, certain provider positions may be eligible for variable compensation in accordance with health system pay practices. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
