Physical Therapy Secretary/Aide

SUMMARY

The PT Aide assists the therapy staff in providing good patient care by utilizing established policies and procedures, ensuring safe and effective care. The PT Aide assists the clinical team in meeting patient treatment goals through positioning, transferring, and maintaining equipment, including cleaning and decontamination. The PT Aide is under the supervision of the Rehab Therapists and reports to the Director of Physical Rehabilitation. Actively supports and participates in coverage efforts across all departments as necessary.

LOCATION: 49 Lawrence Ave, Potsdam, NY 13676

DEPARTMENT: Physical Therapy

SCHEDULE: Day shift, Monday - Friday (7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists with answering phones, making patient appointments, receiving initial referrals, and obtaining information that is relayed to appropriate staff.

  • Assists with filing, copying, and other duties as assigned. Assists with chart breakdown and storage.

  • Maintains supplies for off-site locations. Stocks rooms and ensures that adequate supplies are available to therapists.

  • The Aide will escort patients to rooms and return to the front for check-out. The Aide performs patient screening, including health questions and temperature checks on patient entry.

  • Assists the therapists in the provision of care, ensuring safe and effective patient care. Assists the team to meet patient goals by providing an additional set of hands for positioning, lifting, and transferring patients.

  • Maintains equipment including cleaning and decontamination throughout the day or as needed. Set up clinical equipment.

  • Assists all staff members as needed to ensure quality and safe care for the duration of the patient treatment regimen. Performs any other related duties as assigned. The Aide may assist the therapist in direct patient care

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.

PAY RANGE: $19.46 - $28.55

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
