Job Title: Registered Nurse
Department: Emergency Department
Location: Canton-Potsdam Hospital
Hours Per Week: Temporary position, up to full-time hours expected
Schedule: 12-hour days shifts, with weekend requirement
SUMMARY: The registered nurse provides assessment, care planning and direct delivery of treatment utilizing professional nursing care processes in a patient and family centered manner in accordance with licensure and regulatory scope and standards, and established hospital policies, procedures and protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs a comprehensive patient assessment to identify patient and family needs.
Develops and implements a comprehensive plan of care involving the patient and the family.
Performs and documents direct patient and family centered care and patient education according to nursing standards of practice.
Identifies and responds to patient conditions to achieve positive patient outcomes.
Performs discharge planning to ensure safe and appropriate transition of care.
Directs and delegates care provided by unlicensed team members.
Provides world class customer service to patients and families.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of an accredited nursing school program
Current, unrestricted New York State registered professional nursing license
BLS upon hire, if not AHA must obtain within one week of hire date
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
BSN from an accredited nursing school program
National Certification
ED experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.
PAY RANGE: $44.03 - $59.45
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
