Nurse Practitioner - Neurology/Stroke

SUMMARY

As a Nurse Practitioner, your strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and commitment to patient-centered care will support the delivery of high-quality neurological care. In this role, you will work with patients at Rochester General Hospital and Unity Hospital, providing hospital follow-up and ongoing post-stroke care.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Patient Care. Evaluate and manage patients following hospitalization for acute stroke and other neurological conditions; obtain medical histories and perform physical examinations; assess patient progress and develop and implement treatment plans

  • Follow-Up Care. Provide post-stroke follow-up and ongoing management, monitor response to treatment, address new or recurring symptoms, and coordinate appropriate diagnostic testing and specialty care

  • Treatment. Prescribe medications, provide patient education, and make appropriate referrals in collaboration with the neurology team

  • Documentation. Maintain accurate and timely medical records, update patient charts, and complete required clinical documentation

EDUCATION:

  • MS: Advanced Practice Nursing (Required)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • NP - Nurse Practitioner Certification - NYS Office of Professions

PAY RANGE: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
