Job Profile Summary
POSITION SUMMARY
The role provides expert nutritional care to participants and serves as a key consultant to interdisciplinary healthcare teams. The Senior RD plays a pivotal role in program development, quality improvement, and departmental innovation, ensuring the highest standards of nutritional care and operational excellence.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Expertise & Complex Case Management:
• Provide direct nutritional care for high-acuity or complex cases requiring advanced clinical judgment.
• Serve as a clinical resource for specialized nutrition therapies (e.g., enteral/parenteral nutrition, metabolic disorders).`
• Review and approve care plans for complex patient populations.
• Lead interdisciplinary case reviews and contribute to care coordination strategies.
Program Development & Quality Improvement:
• Design and implement nutrition-related programs that align with organizational goals.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery.
• Analyze departmental data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and update clinical protocols and policies in collaboration with medical leadership.
Education & Staff Development:
• Develop and deliver continuing education programs for dietetic staff.
• Provide advanced training on clinical topics, documentation standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Support onboarding and orientation for new hires, including specialized training tracks.
Research & Evidence-Based Practice:
• Promote and participate in nutrition-related research and evidence-based practice initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging trends and integrate best practices into clinical workflows.
• Present findings at internal and external professional forums.
Community Engagement & Wellness Leadership:
• Lead community outreach initiatives focused on nutrition education and wellness.
• Collaborate with external partners to promote public health nutrition programs.
• Oversee wellness programming and evaluate its impact on participant health outcomes.
Operational Excellence:
• Monitor and improve food service operations in collaboration with kitchen and vendor teams.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies.
• Lead initiatives to improve participant satisfaction with meal services.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex clinical cases and lead multidisciplinary teams.
• Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in nutritional care.
• Certification in a specialized area of nutrition.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition or a related field (required for all hires on or after April 1, 2022).
• 3 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
• Registered Dietitian (RD) credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Light - Clinical - Light clinical roles involve frequent standing and walking, with occasional lifting of light objects (≤20 lbs.) and routine reaching, grasping, and fine manipulation for tasks such as patient care, laboratory work, or specimen processing. Staff rely on strong visual and auditory acuity to accurately observe specimens, read instrumentation, monitor patients, respond to alarms, and communicate effectively with care teams. Cognitive demands include multitasking, prioritizing clinical and laboratory workflows, and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams. Emotional resilience is necessary due to frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, and the need for precise and compassionate interaction with patients and colleagues. Environmental exposures may include infectious materials, biological specimens, cleaning agents, sharps, chemical reagents, and wet surfaces. PPE use, TB testing, and schedule flexibility are commonly required.
PAY RANGE: $30.50 - $39.00
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
