JOB TITLE: SWITHCBOARD OPERATOR

SCHEDULE: EVENINGS, ROTATING WEEKENDS REQUIRED
SUMMARY
As a Switchboard Operator, your superior interpersonal and organizational skills, along with your dedication to customer service is vital to ensuring overall customer satisfaction.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Call Management. Answer incoming/outgoing/internal calls to the switchboard, promptly and courteously giving priority to STAT and/or emergency calls; connect calls to appropriate personnel; monitor emergency radio, fire panel and other alarm panels; provide over-head page for all internal and external disaster situations (code calls and drills)
- General Assistance. Provide patient information to customers via computer access and printed reports; enter department schedules, updating as needed; miscellaneous duties as requested by the manager
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two (2) years customer service experience, preferably in a fast-paced environment setting
- Demonstrated compassion, empathy and customer service skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent diction and articulation
- Ability to multitask and work under rigorous pressure
- Proficient in use of computers; must be able to type a minimum of 35 wpm
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bilingual preferred; able to pass a language proficiency assessment within 30 days of hire
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Sedentary - Sedentary roles are primarily office-based and require prolonged sitting (67–100% of the workday) with minimal physical effort and lifting limited to under 10 lbs. Fine motor skills are necessary for computer work, writing, and telephone use, supported by clear visual and auditory ability. Cognitive and emotional demands are high due to extended concentration, frequent interruptions, independent decision-making, and information processing. Although physical exposure is low, administrative areas within healthcare environments may occasionally involve contact with infectious agents. Some roles may require flexible hours, TB screening, or a valid driver’s license.
PAY RANGE: $17.25 - $19.89
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
