Job Title: Sterile Processing Tech
Department: CPH LEROY OP CENTER
Location: SLH - LOC 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam, NY 13676
Hours Per Week: 22.5
Schedule: Mon - Fri (6:45am - 3:15pm)
SUMMARY:
Prepare and maintain the many life preserving articles and pieces of equipment that are necessary to provide the utmost in both patient and employee safety and generate the utmost in both patient care. Follow the direction and guidance of the Central Supply Supervisor.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operates steam and ETO gas sterilizers
- Maintain extra supplies
- Updates file cards and maintains daily records
- Participates in continuing education programs in the hospital and in outside seminars and workshops.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic understanding of various functions of the department. Conscientious regard for technical and minute procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of medical terminology and nomenclature of items and equipment used by the department.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- High school graduate or equivalent
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:
Certification by the Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) upon hire or must obtain within two years of hire.
(Grandfathering Clause) Must provide evidence of employment or contract services as a Central Service Technician in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one year occurring between January 1, 2011, and January 1, 2015.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - These roles require a combination of movement and stationary work, including frequent standing, walking, and moderate lifting (up to 50 lbs.). Tasks may involve repetitive reaching, bending, pushing, or pulling, along with maintaining awareness in high-traffic or operational areas. Visual focus and spatial awareness are critical in facilities, logistics, or support settings. Emotional demands include managing interruptions, prioritizing tasks, and maintaining compliance with safety standards. Environmental exposures may include equipment noise, shared workspaces, and occasional proximity to hazardous areas. Physical capability screening may be required.
PAY RANGE: $22.22 - $31.74
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for successful applicants. It may be modified in the future. Pay is determined by factors including experience, clinical licensure date, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
